LinkedIn / eHarmony / last.fm Compromised Passwords 06-07-2012

On Tuesday, June 6th reports that files containing compromised passwords associated with the social networking site LinkedIn as well as the online dating website eHarmony were released to the public. Both sites have now confirmed these stories via their own respective blogs[1][2]. Additionally music recomendation service last.fm has reported similar findings today of leaked user passwords[3]. Please be advised that news of the compromises have led to email scams and phishing sites asking for credentials.

Our recommended course of action is to change passwords associated with either site especially if you use the same password for other popular websites and services and definitely if the password is the same used by your NetID.
