Duke University deploys cameras (closed circuit and network cameras) to meet operational, physical security or public safety requirements. Approval to deploy these cameras as well as access or use the content generated by the cameras must be approved by a joint OIT and Duke Police security technology coordinating group prior to their deployment. Departments and individuals may not deploy video cameras for the purpose of monitoring areas or individuals without a recommendation from this group. Cameras must comply with all applicable university technical standards and the content generated by the cameras must be stored and secured in a manner consistent with the University Data Classification Standard.
